The Clerk and Recorder as defined in the Colorado Constitution.  This position manages four divisions and is subject to term limits (2 four year terms.)   
Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners:
  • Records the meetings of the Board of County Commissioners  
  • Transcribes the minutes creating a permanent record 
  • Conducts Board of Equalization and abatement hearings



Recording Staff:
  • Record public records
  • Archives real estate titles, liens and deeds  
  • Issues marriage licenses
  •  

    Some people also record things like DD214s and other documents they want on public record.

    There are public terminals provided for you to research any recorded document.

    Motor Vehicle Staff: 
    • Issue you title and registration on vehicles

    Senate Bill 108 passed last year (FASTER bill) and you now see an increase to the amount you pay for vehicle registration.

    The money that is paid is distributed between entities:

    52.6% goes to schools
    28.4% goes to the county
    14.6% goes to special districts
    4.37% goes to cities or towns
     

     
    Elections Staff: 
    • Assist voters 
    • Maintain the voter list
    • Tracks district annexations
    • Conducts elections

    The County Elections Division assists with the smaller municipal and special district elections.  The division may conduct up to seven elections per year.
