It isn’t often you find a job you love; I love the Clerk & Recorder’s Division. I have worked in the Clerk & Recorder’s Office for nine years. I am currently the Chief Deputy Clerk & Recorder.
It is important to me that Mesa County has trusted, transparent and accurate elections. The will of the people has to be reflected accurately in the results of every election.
Being the sole source for many needed services holds the elected Clerk &Recorder accountable to provide timely and accurate services to our community. With that, supporting well trained and confident staff is vital to doing a good job.
Customer Service:
Citizens of Mesa County have to visit the Clerk & Recorder Departments. The Clerk & Recorder is a sole source for many services.
Sheila will work to continue to support the staff in all departments and continue to work to streamline the service. One challenge the departments face includes adequate staffing in future years, with recent budgetary cuts 2 positions have been eliminated.
Legislative Issues:
Elections and Motor Vehicle law seem to be popular topics for legislative changes every year. Many times these changes cause costs to the business processes within the divisions and in turn costs to the tax payers.
Efficiency:
Sheila believes strongly in thinking outside the box and not performing business processes “because that is the way we’ve always done it.” There is always a way to improve a process, as things change and develop around us the way we do things need to change and develop also.
